First Nations Creative Pathways Program

Are you passionate about performing arts, storytelling, or working behind the scenes in creative production? Do you want to explore a career in the arts industry?

The First Nations Creative Pathways Program is looking for emerging First Nations creatives who are ready to take the next step toward a career in the performing arts. Whether you’re interested in producing, creative project management, stage management, or arts leadership, we want to hear from you!


About the Program

This free 9-month initiative supports First Nations participants with:

  • Professional development and leadership training

  • Tailored career advice and mentoring for getting a foothold in the industry and building a career

  • Networking opportunities with local arts employers

  • Advice about training pathways, including job-based learning

  • Access to resources and referrals through our engaged stakeholders

  • Access to First Nations industry professionals and peers

  • A week-long immersive career experience in September 2025

  • Ongoing wrap-around support and guidance


Wrap-around Support

Participants have access to a range of tailored wrap-around supports, including subsidised travel (go card top-ups and fuel cards), fully catered meals, and childcare assistance to help manage family responsibilities during training. Job search support includes resume writing, interview preparation, and help accessing job opportunities. Assistance is also provided for obtaining essential documents such as Blue Cards and tax file numbers. Cultural mentorship ensures guidance through cultural protocols in professional settings.


Who Should Apply

We welcome EOIs from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who:

  • Are aged 18 or over

  • Have an interest in working in the performing arts or creative industries (or mid-career professionals seeking to transition into the performing arts)

  • Are motivated to grow their professional and leadership skills

  • Are based in Brisbane and regional or remote Queensland (Travel and accommodation support available)

You don’t need formal qualifications—just passion, commitment, and a desire to learn.

How to Submit Your EOI

Please submit the following by Sunday 24 August

  1. Your details:

    • Name, age, location

    • Contact information (email, phone)

  2. A short written statement (300–500 words) OR a 1-3 minute video/audio recording that answers:

    • Why are you interested in the program?

    • What experience or interest do you have in performing arts or production?

    • What do you hope to learn or achieve by being part of this program?

  3. (Optional) A CV or list of any relevant experience
