Ausdance Queensland is offering two First Nations dance residencies in the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts, Bell Tower Studio

This is an opportunity for First Nations dance practitioners or dance collectives to dedicate time and space to develop an idea.

This could be a new work, a re-development of an existing work, a research space or a practical movement laboratory.

This residency is open to dance artists and collectives across all genres, styles and sectors within First Nations Dance communities in Queensland. These residencies are to focus on practice, play and developing craft.

Delegates of the 2017 National Indigenous Dance Forum prioritised the need for ‘space and time to develop contemporary dance practice’. The BlakDance residency program invests in this through offering specific First Nations dance residencies in partnership with allied organisations.

This residency is by Ausdance Queensland for two First Nations dance makers/collectives and is part of the BlakDance residency program which exists to grow the sector, connecting our communities to opportunities to engage and explore dance practice.

BlakDance provides information and support from a dedicated producer to apply. Please contact Hannah Scanlon at hannah.scanlon@blakdance.org.au for support in applying to Ausdance Queensland for this residency.
